Design for Living

Just back from ‘Design for Living’ at the Esplanade. It ended up ending past midnight cause of two technical interruptions lasting close to 15 minutes each. To smoothe everyone (it was a full house at the grand theatre) during the actual intermission, drinks including beer and wine were on the house. Woohoo, being a typical Singaporean I went to get a coke. Heh. No photos from the play itself though, its not allowed!

Was pleasantly surprised when the play had a really local flavour, with elements such as MM Lee and the current Prime Minister being integrated into the dialogues. In the play the lead actor (Joseph Cheng – Zheng Yuan Chang) tried to look for MM Lee’s book at the Travel section cause it contained ‘Singapore’ in the title. It was the book which wrote about how it came from a Third World to a First today. I wonder if such ‘local’ elements are kept thru out the play or customised to wherever its performing?
